The difference between
a $350 puppy and

"Do not take advice from people who have always been unsuccessful breeders.   If their opinions are worth having they would have proved it by their successes."
- Raymond H. Opperheimer

This is very good advice.  There are people in the dog game (purchasers of other people's stock) who have never bred a show winner in their lives, but who offer liberal advice to all and sundry.  This would not matter much if it were not for the fact that novice breeders and judges are inclined to believe this talk because it is so convincingly uttered.

Bit O' Gold Pugs Welcome to
Bit O' Gold P
ugs

Bit O' Gold Pugs was born in 1983, named after Ch Lil' Golden Dreamer of Maywood.  "Goldie" was our first female champion, and dam to eleven of our champions.

What began as a weekend hobby has turned into a labor of love.  We have experienced the highs that a Best-In-Show and Specialty Best of Breed can bring, and have experienced the lows of having an entire litter die in your hands - one by one.  In our show travels, we have seen all corners of the country and have met many dedicated individuals who share our passion.

We have raised a wonderful Daughter who played second fiddle to the Pugs, and who spent many hours strapped into a car seat as we traversed the country - constantly wanting something to eat.  "Not now dear, we will be stopping to feed the dogs in a while, can you wait until then?"

Through the highs and lows and miles and miles, we have enjoyed breeding and exhibiting our Pugs.  It has been a lot of fun, and very rewarding.

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, we moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, for a few short years, and have been in Montrose, Colorado, since 1994.  Montrose is nestled in colorful southwestern Colorado between the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the Uncompahgre Plateau, the Grand Mesa, and the San Juan Mountain range.

We do not have litters very often, and rarely will place a puppy before it is six or eight months old.  A Pug will change so much that it is very difficult to know how they will turn out - some breeders can - we can't.  We breed so that we have Pugs to show, and if we place a puppy, we want to make sure that what you see is what you get.  Our goal is to produce Group, Specialty, and Best-In-Show winners, not just another champion.

While we do not normally place puppies, we occasionally have young adults that we are looking to place.  Please contact us if you might be interested.

If you send us an e-mail asking for information, please include your city or state. For breeder information in your area, please contact the Pug Dog Club of America Breeder Referral at www.pugs.org.
